What I Found Before Installing Anything
I spent a couple of weeks digging into this, and the first thing I have to say clearly: there is no separate “Cranbrook Casino” mobile app in Google Play or the App Store. No official APK, no native iOS app, nothing published under a Cranbrook Casino developer profile. Casino of the Rockies at 7777 Mission Road in Cranbrook, BC, simply does not push out its own branded app through the major stores.
That sounds like a dead end at first. It really is not.
If you are in British Columbia and want a mobile option that connects to the same regulated ecosystem, the only realistic path runs through BCLC - the British Columbia Lottery Corporation. Their PlayNow platform has working apps for both iOS and Android, is tied into the same regulatory framework as Casino of the Rockies, and actually functions properly. That is what I installed, tested for a while, and what I am talking about here.
Installing on iOS
On iOS the whole thing was quick. On a normal home connection it took me under five minutes from start to first spin. No sideloading, no messing with settings.
This is what I did:
- Open the App Store on your iPhone or iPad.
- Type “PlayNow” into the search bar at the top.
- Look for the official BCLC PlayNow app and double-check the developer name before you touch it.
- Tap Get, then confirm with Face ID, Touch ID or your Apple ID password.
- When the download finishes, tap Open.
- On the start screen, log in if you already registered, or hit Register to make a new profile.
- Enter your BC-issued ID details - they check age and residency, so you cannot skip this part.
- After that is approved, tap Casino in the bottom navigation and you will land on slots and table games.
The app supports iOS 14 and newer. I ran it on an iPhone 12 with iOS 16. It held up fine, no crashes, animations were smooth enough for me. Honestly, smoother than I expected from a government-backed product.
Installing on Android
On Android the route is basically the same idea. The important part: the app is in Google Play already, so you do not need any direct APK files or weird mirrors.
Here is how it went for me:
- Open Google Play on your Android phone or tablet.
- Type “PlayNow BC” into the search box.
- Make sure the publisher is listed as BCLC before you move on.
- Tap Install and give it a moment to download.
- Open the app and choose either Log In or Create Account on the first screen.
- Enter your name, date of birth and BC address when asked.
- When the app asks for it, upload a photo of a government-issued ID. Without this, you cannot play for real money.
- Once the account is verified, go into My Account, then Deposit, and add funds using Interac or your linked bank account.
I tested this on a mid-tier Android device running Android 11. The main lobby came up quickly, and navigation did not lag in a way that bothered me. It does not look flashy, but everything I tried worked.
One thing I would strongly suggest: on any gambling app, do the ID check before you try to throw money in. If you deposit first and only then start verification, you just add pointless waiting time while your cash sits there.

Game selection and payment methods can shift around after app updates, so I would always take a quick look at the Banking and Promotions areas inside the app before putting in a serious deposit. It saves surprises later.
The APK Question
Because I wanted to be sure, I went hunting specifically for third-party APKs with “Cranbrook Casino” in the name. Quite a few download pages popped up with that label. None of them took me back to a confirmed official site. None of them mentioned a BCLC licence anywhere. None had a developer that I could actually track to a real company.
Unverified casino APKs are not just a vague risk. Malware, stolen logins, payment data leaking into who-knows-where - those issues are all well documented with unofficial gambling apps. Every reliable security source I looked at basically said the same thing in different words: the domain must exactly match the official operator and must load over HTTPS. Not one of the “Cranbrook APK” files I saw met that bar.
My own conclusion from all that: skip those files completely. There is no upside worth that sort of downside.
